The only one of the big three who haven’t held their hand out for charity is also the only one who produces a better than average vehicle for a fair price, Ford! Hey I got it, here’s a great idea. Instead of “bailing out” companies that have made bad decisions, let’s make loans to companies that make good decisions (and therefore don’t really need the money). Create opportunity for those with a good track record. Maybe the government should provide interest-free loans to Ford to buy assets from Chrysler and GM that fit within Ford’s framework. Let them take the money and use it wisely — building market share and saving jobs. Any proceeds that GM and Chrysler receive can go towards their debt, paying US taxpayers back and short-term viability. If they make it through, fine. If they don’t, bankruptcy is inevitable anyway! I think Ford Motor Company has shown a more competent business model and deserves at least a look for not whining about their situation. First On Race day! I will be buying FORD from now on.
