March 25 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama’s auto task force will indicate support for additional aid to U.S. automakers within a week, Senator Carl Levin said.

“It’s clear that there will be more support and it will be with some conditionalities, which will be made clear within a week,” Levin, a Michigan Democrat, told reporters at the U.S. Capitol today in Washington.

Chrysler actually does have some valuable assets and brands. They were supposed to build the next generation of Nissan trucks, so why not sell them the truck division. GM could use the minivans since it doesn’t have any right now. Jeep/Hummer should be a viable joint venture — two great off-roading names together. Liquidate the rest and the US automotive marketplace gets stronger.
