Japan has proved that no matter how much a government is willing to spend to manipulate the economy and punish consumers for saving via low interest rates, the Markets/Wall Street will eventually do what they need to do. Calling the bottom is a total waste of energy, at the end of the day bottoms and tops change in relation to the economic realities and perception of value. One of the issues I think is causing some real problems is the negative influence from hedge fund trading?? Eliminate short sales and institute strict regulation with complete transparency will add substantial stability and less volatility to the market. Hedge funds take bad or good news and manipulate it to influence their needs for trading purposes. Congress needs to hold special hearings calling in the SEC to investigate EVERY hedge fund trading. Time is of the essence and it needs to be done now. Good companies have fallen victim to hedge fund trading causing unwarranted financial instability. In my opinion the future of Wall Street is very bleak.Their lust for power and greed has done irreparable damage. Turn out the lights wall street the party is over!
